Fossiltime (Ch Zero 1995-1998 R.I.P.)

Waaaaaay a long time ago, well before the invention of standing upright, F&D used to host and produce a weekly radio show called Ch. Zero on University of Toronto radio station CIUT 89.5 FM. Oh how times have changed. Back then, their logo looked like the faux-funky one on the left, but now it looks like the cool and professional one on the right.

Between September 1995 and Saturday, August 29, 1998, Fast & Dirty wrote and performed over 550 sketches, songs, monologues, poems, and other weird fine goodness on the show.

First, thanks to the guests...

We had, as you can see below, an excellent assortment of guests that we interviewed either live or over the phone and/or had perform on the show. All guests received a complimentary can of Wink (the drink that rhymes with dink). And in no particular order, they were:

Next, thanks to the fabulous technicians...

Because without them, we'd have just been two guys yakking to ourselves in a room, which is pretty well what we do nowadays. But there were some great and wonderful people who helped us out big time:

The way cool Jeff ("J.C.") Cohen (from CIUT's Mods and Rockers, when we were on Mondays at midnight), all-around excellent gentleman Mervyn Hassanali, the technically wizardous Dave Bachner, the one-time only Greg the Rasta guy, the mellowly cool Ken Barrett (of CIUT's Caribuni), the always lovely Kara Gillies (from CIUT's By All Means), the Gen-X master blaster Max Douglas (a.k.a. Salgood Sam), who was the original "Channel Zero guy" and actually ran the show when we first started, and of course, the effervescent JESSE MENOKE!!!, our fabulous tunesmith-tigress technician/co-producer.

Quick pics from our CIUT days! (Click on thumbnails to see full-sized grainy pics)

July/98 -- Roger Abbott, Gord, Rob, Don Ferguson in the stairwell of CIUT, after they guested on our show and did a couple of sketches with us. It was a hoot!

Aug 29/98 --after the last broadcast of Ch Zero -- Gord, Jesse, Sonya (from By All Means, which was the show right after us), Rob, and Kara (By All Means and occasionally helped us too)

Nov 14/98 -- Ken, Rob, Gord & Cap'n Dave after we were on Cap'n Dave's Comedy Hour

Thanks to one and all!
Light a fire, baby, you're all way too cool!
